Joanne B. Myers

Joanne B. Myers, age 83, 1904 Red Lane, Danville died at 1:05 a. m. Saturday, July 29, 2017 at the Geisinger Home Health & Hospice at Maria Hall, Danville. She had been in failing health since May.

Born in Berwick on January 24, 1934, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Margaret (Milroy) McCreary. She was a 1952 graduate of Bloomsburg High School.

Joanne resided in Danville for the past 27 years and previously lived in Bloomsburg for many years. Earlier in her life she was employed in the Columbia County Court House in the Register and Recorder's office. Most of her lifetime she was a homemaker.

She was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church, Bloomsburg. An avid Penn State Football fan, she loved to read, travel and spend time with her grandchildren.

Joanne was preceded in death by her husband, Jay W. Myers, retired Columbia Montour Judge, on February 26, 2002; by a sister, Margaret Knorr and by a brother Jay McCreary.

Surviving are two sons: Kent R. Myers, and his wife Debbie, Muncy and Kevin W. Myers, and his wife Corie R., Danville; a daughter, Kimberly M., wife of Christian A. Shetler, Bloomsburg; six grandchildren; three great grandchildren; a brother, Robert McCreary, and his wife Lois, Orangeville;  a sister, Dorothy, wife of Ronald GIrton, Gilbertsville; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11 a. m. in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg, with family friend, Pastor Charles N. Chamberlain, III, pastor of the Bloomsburg Southern Baptist Church officiating. Interment in the Pine Grove Cemetery, Walnut Street, Berwick. Viewing from 10 to 11 a. am. Thursday.
