Joanne M. Linn

Joanne M. Linn,. age 80,  203 Fleming Avenue, Danville, returned home on Sunday, February 26, 2017 at 10:55 p. m. while a guest at Geisinger Columbia Montour Hospice At Maria Hall in Danville.

Born on August 1, 1936, in Danville,  a daughter of the late Joseph E. and Anna R. (Lechner) Linn. She was raised in the second ward of Danville on Mowery Street.  She was a 1956 graduate of Danville High School.

Joanne was a lifelong member of St. Hubert's Catholic Church and later of St. Joseph's Catholic Church.

Her working days were spent in customer service at Woolworths, J. J. Newberry, Bowman's and W. T. Grant Co. and last working in food service at Maria Joseph Manor, from which she retired.

Joanne loved spending time with her family and friends, playing games, singing, visiting Knoebel's, doing puzzles, Sunday drives and other activities. In her youth she enjoyed playing at the Washies Playground. As an adult she enjoyed sharing her days telling stories with her companions at her second home, the Montour County Senior Center and her neighbors at Welsh Heights. Joanne will be remembered most for her big smile, kind heart and her sense of humor.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Murry (Curly) Davis.

Surviving are a brother, Robert J. Linn, and his wife Christine A.  and a sister, Kathleen D. Davis, all of Danville.

While Joanne did not have children of her own, she was blessed to have loved and cared for an abundance of children and their spouses in her lifetime: five nieces: Beth A. Linn; Denise " Denny"  L. Pisarcik; Lisa M. Linn deBarona; Gretchen A. Burkhart; Stefanie J. Davis; two nephews: Mark J. Linn and Todd M. Davis; four great-nieces: Sarah E. Sees; Analis I. Barona Linn; Gina Davis; Harper J. Burkhart; three great-nephews: Joshua M. Pisarcik; Caleb J. Pisarcik; Nathan J. Linn; and twin great-great nieces, Claire Sees and Emily Sees.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Joseph's Catholic Church  18 Center Street, Danville, by Rev. Ignatius Madumere, O. P. on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery, Elysburg, next to her beloved parents.   The family will receive friends in St. Hubert's Chapel from 9-10 a. m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you remember Joanne with a contribution to support the compassionate life affirming work of the Geisinger Columbia Montour Home Hospice, 410 Glenn Avenue, Bloomsburg, PA 17815.

As Joanne was a guest at Maria Hall in her final days, the family invites you to mark your calendar for the annual "Wings of Hope Butterfly Release", Sunday, September 10, 2017 at Maria Hall. The butterfly is a symbol of life birth, transition, healing and renewal as the caterpillar changes into a butterfly.

Arrangements have entrusted to the care of the Roat-Kriner Funeral Home, 1715 Bloom Road, Danville.

I was blessed to have an Aunt Joanne who always had a tissue, who's purse always smelled of peppermint gum, who played a mean game of Canasta, knew all the words to Bicycle Built for Two and always bought the best Christmas presents. ( meticulously wrapped!) Fluffer nutter graham crackers, walks to the bridge and Sunday afternoon drives are sorely missed. Love you Aunt Joanne. Thank you to everyone outside our family who loved her too. Many thanks to all the wonderful people at Maria Hall who made sure she was comfortable and cared for these last few weeks. You became family and your kindness will be remembered.

So sorry for your loss. I know she must have been well-loved by Mark and Anne. It is good to have the faith that both of you espouse to get through a hard time like this. May Jehovah's love envelop and comfort you.

We love you mucho Aunt Joanne and will miss your gentle ways and putterings. Please guide Analis as she walks in your creative ways -- your love for creating art, making music and cultivating flowers.

Thank you to all Joanne's friends from Mowry Street, the Senior Center, Welsh Heights, Maria Hall and beyond. We are grateful for your love and caring during Joanne's 80 years, but especially in her final weeks as she fought against the ravages of Pancreatic Cancer. Your compassion and kindness are very much appreciated.

Be at peace with God, Grammy Anne and Pop-Pop Joe.
