Joan A. Hummer

Joan A. (Hower) Hummer, age 87, of 69 Hummer Road, Danville, died at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville on Wednesday, November 18, 2020 at 3:30 p. m. after an illness.

Born in Riverside on August 24, 1933, she was a daughter of the late James R. and Beatrice M. (Roadarmel) Hower.

She lived in the Riverside/Rush Township area her entire life and attended the Danville High School.

Joan was a homemaker for much of life and later was employed by Geisinger Medical Center in the cafeteria for 17 years.

She was a member of St. Peter’s United Methodist Church, Riverside.

Joan was an excellent cook and was known for her apple pie. She especially enjoyed planting flowers. Her favorite activity was spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles W. Hummer, Sr., on May 18, 2017.

She is survived by four sons: Richard C. Hummer, Randall Lee Hummer, and his wife LuAnn, Charles W. Hummer, Jr., and his wife Patricia, Jeffrey Scott Hummer, all of Danville, a daughter, Lori Ann, wife of Scott Keppler, Danville; 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; a sister, Jacqueline “Jackie”, wife of James Shutt, Danville, and a  brother James R. Hower, Riverside.

Private funeral services will be held in the Roat-Kriner Funeral Home, 1133 Bloom Road, Danville, with her son Randall Lee Hummer officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Riverside.
