Jeanette Elizabeth (Swinehart) Metzger

Jeanette Elizabeth Metzger, age 91, of Bloomsburg passed away Monday afternoon, February 12, 2024 at Grandview Nursing and Rehabilitation in Danville. She was born in Lewisburg on October 20, 1932, the daughter of the late Harry and Dorothy (Mook) Swinehart.

Jeanette was preceded in death by siblings Leon, Irene, Harold, Marie, Helen, Harry, Jean, Leslie. Surviving are two sisters, Lucille and Charlotte. All of whom affectionately called her Janet.

Jeanette retired from Geisinger Medical Center and also worked as a county Tax Collector for the town of Bloomsburg.

In 1953 she married the late Ronald Lee Metzger of Lewisburg and they were blessed with five children: son, Ronald Allen Metzger, and wife Joan, of Bloomsburg, daughter, Renate Metzger, of Bloomsburg, daughter, Delphine Garlock, and husband Jon, of Georgetown Illinois, son, Timothy Metzger, and wife Karen, of Bloomsburg, and son, Seth Metzger and wife Sherry, of Riverside, all of whom survive.

Together Ronald and Jeanette raised their own children and several other teenagers along the way. They were affectionately known as Mom and Dad to all because young people were always welcome in their home. They were also blessed with many grandchildren who lovingly call them Gram and Pap.

Together they had eleven grandchildren, Ronald Joseph, Jennifer, Jason, Sabrina, Benjamin, Allison, Timothy, Owen and Ruthanna. She was proceeded in death by grandsons Seth Daniel and Ethan. She has 18 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

Both Jeanette and Ronald were longtime members of the Bloomsburg Church of the Nazarene and served there faithfully.

Jeanette enjoyed bird watching, especially hummingbirds, growing house plants, playing cards, and family meals. She was a gifted seamstress and was known for her beautiful embroidery, quilts, and cross stitching.
