Jean I Rine

Jean I. (Love) Rine, age 87, of 33 Beaver Run Road, Danville, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, January 24, 2021.

Born in Mahoning Township on February 17, 1933 she was a daughter of the late Melvin and Mildred (Stigerwalt) Love. She was aa lifelong resident of the Danville area and a 1949 graduate of Danville High School.

Jean was a member of the Chillisquaque Presbyterian Church, Pottsgrove and a charter member of the Susquehanna Valley Corral. She was an active leader for the Montour Horse and Pony 4-H Club for many years.

She and her husband, Charles W. Rine owned and operated a farm in Liberty Township.  He was her high school sweetheart and they were married on December 1, 1950 and his death on July 14, 2018 ended a marriage of 66 years. In marriage she became a farm wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Jean had a love for animals, especially horses, dogs and cats . She had a special place in her heart for her longhorned cow that had been gifted to her by her husband.

She loved to sew, paint, do ceramics, needle point and most arts and crafts. She was an amazing cook and baker. She volunteered to bake goodies for the Liberty Township Fire Co. and also for the Pottsgrove Fire Co.

She was preceded in death by a grandson Lance Martin in 1987.

Jean will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her.

She is survived by two sons: Keith C. Rine and his wife Kimberly and Joel W. Rine and his wife Kathryn and a daughter, Judy L. Rine, all of Danville; seven grandchildren: Tara Rine, Jonathan Rine and his wife Heidi, Courtney Martin, Briann, wife of Adam Berger, Michael Rine, Sara, wife of Brad Harvey and Jessica Rine; ten great-grandchildren and six step-grandchildren.

A celebration of her life will be held in spring and will be announced.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Roat-Kriner Funeral Home, 113, Bloom Road, Danville.
