Jean A. (Rogers) Recla

Jean A. (Rogers) Recla, age 88, of Danville, passed away peacefully in her home with her family on Friday, April 1, 2022 after a long struggle with Leukemia and Breast Cancer.

Born in England on April 6, 1933, she was the daughter of Tom and Ellen (Wilkes) Rogers.  She married Frank Recla and came to the United States in 1958.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents, her only sister Dorothy, and Frank Recla with whom she always remained friends.

She was last employed with Merck & Co, Riverside, retiring after 17 years of service in 1994.

Jean is survived by her daughter Sharon McClum, of Dover, and her son, Shaun Recla, and his wife Brenda, of Danville; grandson Corey Recla (the light of her life), of Muncy; nephews: Larry Recla,  Bobby Recla, Shane Recla,  and Donald Vitale, of Dillsburg; niece, Janet Vitale of Myrtle Beach, SC; and numerous nieces and nephews in England.

She loved to travel especially to England, Aruba and always with a book in hand.  She was also a volunteer at the Danville Ronald McDonald House until her health declined.

The Recla family would like to thank the Doctors and Nurses of Geisinger Oncology, and all the UPMC hospice employees for their compassion and care.  We would especially like to thank her dear friend Janet and husband Al Carl for their unwavering love and friendship.

In keeping with Jean’s wishes, there will be no services held.  In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 1300 N Grant 4th Fl, Wilmington, DE 19806 or online at www.lls.org.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Roat-Kriner Funeral Home, 1133 Bloom Road, Danville.
