Janet M. Fritz

Janet M. (Bittenbender) Fritz, age 84, of 231 Sunnyside Avenue, Bloomsburg (Fernville) died late Friday evening, Sept. 24, 2021, at Serenity Gardens in Kulpmont where she had been a patient.

Born in Bloomsburg on Feb. 18, 1937, she was a daughter of the late Heister H. and Mary E. (White) Bittenbender. She was a lifelong resident of Bloomsburg and a 1955 graduate of Bloomsburg High School. She furthered her education by graduating from the former Bloomsburg State Teachers College in 1959.

Janet taught school early in her life and later was employed in the laboratory of Geisinger Medical Center in Danville. Most of her life she was a homemaker and mother.

She was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church.

Janet collected Blue Willow China. She loved cats and making crafts.

Surviving is her husband, Frank J. Fritz, Jr., with whom she observed 62 years of marriage on June 6, 2021; a daughter, Elizabeth Ann Allen, Quakertown; a son, Steven A. Fritz, Bloomsburg; a grandson, Eric B. Allen, Coopersburg; a granddaughter, Alyssa N., wife of Jeremy J. Funk, Fleetwood; and a brother, Heister H. Bittenbender, Jr., Bloomsburg.

Private services will be held in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral; Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg, with her pastor. Rev. Dr. Joel L. Zeiders, officiating. Interment will follow in New Rosemont Cemetery, Espy. There will be no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association, 57 N. Franklin St., Wilkes Barre, PA  18701.

I met Frank and Janet, shortly after,. in 1964 while attending training at Geisinger. A lifetime of good times and fond memories followed. God Bless!
