Jane Elizabeth (Towe) Bennett, age 88, 43 Sandy Stone Drive, Orangeville, passed away peacefully at her  home surrounded by her family at 12:45 p. m. Monday, October 31, 2016. She was in failing health for several years.

Born in Syracuse, N.Y. on May 16, 1928, she was a daughter of the late Edward Thomas and Catherine Irene (Davis) Towe. She resided in Orange Township for 19 years and previously lived in Ramsey, N.J. for 30 years.

Jane was graduate of Fayetteville High School, Fayetteville, N.Y. Kent State University, where obtained a degree in Education, French, and Philosophy.

She was employed at Ramapo College of New Jersey in the library, retiring in 1991.

Jane was a member of St. Columba Catholic Church, Bloomsburg. She enjoyed being with her children and grandchildren, family meals, making beautiful afghans, taking care of her roses, reading and music. Her greatest joy was sharing family traditions and teaching children and friends how to play bridge, cook and enjoy little things in life like a hawk in flight, sunrises and sunsets, a good book and lots of laughter. She taught us all how to be resilient, strong, loving and compassionate people.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Bruce D. Bennett, on July 12, 2014; and a brother Edward Thomas Towe. Mom and dad are together once more. She will be greatly missed by her children: Steven T. Bennett, and his fiance' Sharon, Ramsey, N.J.; Susan B., wife of Gene Daniel Fetterman, Jr, Orangeville; Edward A. Bennett, Union, N.J.; Sarah B. Armand, Warwick, N.Y.; seven grandchildren: Meghan, Katie, Brittany, Charles, Pierre Charles, Lauren and Jessica; an aunt, Elizabeth Davis, Massena, N.Y.; and a cousin, Connie James, Summerville, South Carolina.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 11 a. m. in St. Columba Catholic Church, 342 Iron St., Bloomsburg, by Monsignor Robert E. Lawrence. Viewing will be from 10-11 a. m., at the Church.

Interment will be made on Saturday at 12:30 p. m. in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, DeWitt, N.Y.

The family will provide flowers. Memorials may be sent to the Geisinger Columbia Montour Home Hospice, 410 Glen Ave., Bloomsburg or to the Alzheimer's Association, 57 N. Franklin St., Wilkes-Barre, PA 18701

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg.
