James E. "Jim" Rafter, Jr.

James E. “Jim” Rafter, Jr, age 68, of Drinker Street, Bloomsburg (Fernville) died Thursday, January 4, 2024, at the Geisinger-Bloomsburg Hospital where he had been a patient.

Born in Lock Haven on March 25, 1955, he was a son of the late James E., Sr. and Arlene (Minser) Rafter. He resided in Bloomsburg since 2006 and previously lived in Shamokin.

Jim was self- employed as a mechanical contractor.

Jim served his country by serving in the U. S. Navy and U. S Army for a total of 17 years. He was a member of Valley of Bloomsburg Post 273, American Legion.

His hobbies were coin collecting and woodworking. But the time he spent with his grandchildren was his favorite activity.

Surviving is his wife, the former Joy James, with whom he observed their 14th wedding anniversary on June 19, 2023; a son Justin Hendricks and his wife Ashley of Fernville, two grandsons, Garrett Hendricks and Jaydon Hendricks, both of Fernville, and a brother John Rafter and his wife Mary of Berwick.

In keeping with Jim’s requests, there will be no funeral services.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market Street, Bloomsburg.
