James R. Gumpy, Sr.

James R. Gumpy, Sr., age 57, of New Ringold and formerly Berwick, passed away on Tuesday April 28, 2026 at the Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.

Born on October 6, 1968 in Berwick, he was the son of the late Randall and Charlotte (Gower) Gumpy. He resided in New Ringold since 2012 and previously resided in Berwick.

James was last employed as a heavy equipment operator for J.W. Zaprazny Scrapyard in New Ringold. Prior to that, he was a truck driver for over 20 years.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Jeffrey Gumpy and sister, Crystal Pennypacker.

Surviving is his wife, Jennifer Gumpy, of New Ringold; three sons, James R. Gumpy, II, and his wife Jess, of Tamaqua, Michael Gumpy, of Bloomsburg, and Brandon Lee Gumpy, of Bloomsburg; daughter, Brittany Ann Gumpy, of New Ringold; seven grandchildren: Kaitlyn, Karlie, Kaden, Adelynn, Grayson, Denver, and Oskar; and three sisters, Wendy, wife of Kenneth Robbins, of Tamaqua, Tracy Deeter, of Berwick, and Nicole, wife of Chad Follmer, of Bloomsburg

At James’ request, there will be no services.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Dean W. Kriner Inc. Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg.
