James A. Doran

James A. Doran, age 91, of Wilkes-Barre and formerly of Berwick, passed away on Monday April 13, 2026 at Riverstreet Manor in Wilkes-Barre.

Born on July 27, 1934 in Bloomsburg, he was the son of John and Margaret (Dowd) Doran. He was a 1952 graduate of Bloomsburg High School. He resided in Freeland for most of his life and had also resided in Bloomsburg and Berwick.

James was employed at the Tobyhanna Army Depot as an equipment operator for 25 years, retiring in 1996.

He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict.

James was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Berwick. He was also a life member of the Knights of Columbus in Bloomsburg.

An avid Notre Dame fan, James enjoyed all sports. Earlier in his life, he was a left-handed pitcher for local baseball teams.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Frances Ann (Romeo) Doran, on September 5, 2022.

Surviving is his son, Kevin P. Doran, and his wife Kimberly, of Hazleton; granddaughter, Brittany M., wife of Kyle Schell, of Berwick; and sister, Margaret Miller, of Buffalo, New York.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday April 18, 2026 at 2 p.m. in the Dean W. Kriner Inc. Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg, with Rev. Francis Tamburro, retired pastor of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, officiating. A viewing will be held from 1-2 p.m.. Private interment will be made in New Rosemont Cemetery, Espy.
