Helen J. Wallace

Helen J. (Noval) Wallace, age 99, of 975 South Market St., Bloomsburg, died at 11:45 p.m., Monday June 22, 2020 at the Bloomsburg Care and Rehabilitation Center.

Born in Mt. Carmel on December 18, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Anthoni and Julia (Swiacki) Noval. She was a graduate of Mt. Carmel High School in 1939 and of the former Bloomsburg Hospital School of Nursing. She resided in Bloomsburg since 1949.

Helen was a registered nurse who worked at the Bloomsburg Hospital, the former Magee Carpet Company, and one of the first nurses working for the Columbia County Visiting Nurses Assn., working there until she retired.

She was a member of St. Columba Catholic Church, Bloomsburg.

Helen enjoyed babysitting her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Michael J. Wallace on December 3, 2011.

Helen is survived by a daughter, Darleen, wife of Joseph Maguire, Redlands, CA; son, Michael G. Wallace, and his wife Laurie, Bloomsburg; grandson, Michael J. Wallace, Sandy Lake; granddaughter, Juliann M., wife of Herbert Shannon, Mifflinville; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was the last of a family of nine children.

Private services will be held in the Dean W. Kriner Inc. Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg, with her pastor, Monsignor Robert E. Lawrence, officiating. Interment in New Rosemont Cemetery.
