Helen Marie (Keller) Longenberger

Helen Marie (Keller) Longenberger, 97, formerly of Mainville died early Saturday, August 16, 2025, at the Emmanuel Center for Nursing in Danville. Born on July 3, 1928, in Black Creek Township, Luzerne County, she was a daughter of the late Marvin C. and Malinda C. (Sherman) Keller. She attended the Mt. Grove and Beaver Township schools.

Helen worked at the former Bloomsburg Silk Mill and the former Susan’s Spinning Mill for many years. After her retirement, she watched her grandchildren.

She was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church, Mainville.

She married Darvin A. Longenberger in August 1948 after his return from serving with the U. S. Army in Germany during World War II. They were married for 62 years before his death on November 17, 2009, having spent their entire married life in Mainville.

Survivng is a son, Charles M. Longenberger of Millsboro, Delaware; two daughters, Charlotte wife of Robert Thomas of Mainville and Marqueen wife of Dale Davenport of Catawissa; six grandchildren: Tracy Sudol, Sheri Eley, Angela Temple, Joseph Thomas, Andraya Hoffman, Jesse Davenport; seven great grandchildren, who she loved dearly, Colten, Virgil, Lily, Hunter, Jacob, Paige, Taylor and; one great- great grandson Dean Davenport and a sister Minnie Hess of Bloomsburg, and a sister-in-law, Mary Jean Bankes, of Mainville, and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers: Merlin S. Keller, Jackson H. Keller and Howard Keller and by five sisters: Betty Fisher, Barbara Johns, Fern Armstrong, Mary Cool, Edna Makara; by sister-in-laws: Deloris Hidlay, Marie Terwilliger and Doris Longenberger.

Funeral services will be held on Friday August 22, 2025 at 2 p. m. in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market Street, Bloomsburg with her pastor Rev. Christine Kirchner officiating. Interment will follow at Elan Memorial Park, Lime Ridge. The family will receive friends from 1 – 2 p. m.
