Helen L. (Gearhart) Appleman

Helen L. (Gearhart) Appleman, 80, of Baldtop Road, Danville passed away at her home on Friday evening, April 17, 2026.

Born in Mahoning Township on January 17, 1946, she was a daughter of the late Harold “Tink” and Florence “Bess” (Ahearn) Gearhart. She was a lifelong resident of the Danville area and a 1964 graduate of Danville High School.

Helen was employed by Montour County for over 30 years and was serving as the Director of Domestic Relations when she retired in 2009.

She was a member of the Hendrickson United Methodist Church where she was quite active earlier in her life.

Helen enjoyed bowling, golfing, cruises, playing cards and making ceramics. She especially enjoyed going on vacations with her family.

She proudly served her country as a member of the U. S. Marine Corps

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry C. Appleman, on June 27, 2015.

Helen is survived by three sons: Mike Appleman and his wife Deb, Rob Appleman and his wife Stacie, Jerry Appleman and his wife Wendy all of Danville; seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren and a brother Ronald “Skip” Gearhart and his wife Peggy of Lykens.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at 11 a. m. in the Hendrickson United Methodist Church with her pastor, Rev. Dwayne Nichols officiating. Interment will follow in the Church cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the U.S. Marine Corp and the American Legion Post 40 Honor Guard.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Roat-Kriner Funeral Hone, 1133 Bloom Road, Danville.
