Glen Leon Blass

Glen Leon Blass, 69, of Catawissa passed away peacefully at Glen Brook Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center on April 24, 2025. He was born in Bloomsburg on September 13, 1955, the son of the late Ralph and Betty (Adams) Blass.

Glen graduated from Southern Columbia in 1975. Following graduation, he began working at Southern Columbia School District as a custodian, maintenance man and school bus driver, where he worked for over 40 years, retiring in May 2017.

Glen spent his childhood working on the family produce farm, where he was taught the value of hard work. This directly showed in his love and dedication for work at Southern where he made many lifelong friendships. After retirement, he could be found with his children on the family farm where he and Leon resided. Glen and Leon were inseparable and could often be found taking day trips and meeting new people. Their favorite adventure was to Stroudsburg where they got to take a train ride and see all the scenic views.

Glen was one of the most selfless, friendly, and compassionate people you would ever meet. He was always pleasant, wishing everyone a good day. Even after his medical conditions had declined in 2024, you would never hear him complain. He strived to do his best in everything he did. Through his declining health in the beginning of the year, he stayed strong and faithful with the best caregiver and son beside him every step of the way. His daughter and home health nurses were always of great assistance, as well.

Glen was an amazing and loving father. He was a devoted brother to Marty, Gary, and I, teaching us compassion, love and patience. His love for his nieces and nephews was always shown through his kind words and actions. Glen’s overall love and attitude towards life was unmatched and so contagious.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Gary Edward Blass, on September 6, 2021 and a nephew, Michael Crone on February 4, 2003.

Surviving is his daughter, Dorothy, wife of Michael Kreischer, of Selinsgrove; son, Leon Blass, of Catawissa; brother, Marty Blass, of Catawissa; sister, Audrey, wife of Jeffrey Crone; sister-in-law, Sue Blass, of Catawissa; and five nieces and nephews: Heather, wife of Colby Dove, Matt Crone and his companion Miranda, Adam Crone, Mandi, wife of BJ Keiffer, and Rhett Keiffer
