Gene M. Snyder

Gene M. Snyder, age 84, of 93 Schoolhouse Road, Bloomsburg (Buckhorn), died at 2:25 a. m. Tuesday, September 24, 2019 at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, where he was a patient for 12 days.

Born at Mazeppa in Buffalo Township, Union County, on April 5, 1935, he was a son of the late Clarence and Grace (Ross) Snyder. He resided in Buckhorn since 1960.

Gene was employed by American Home Foods, Inc., Milton for 40 years, retiring in April, 1997

He was an active member of the Buckhorn United Methodist Church and enjoyed singing in the choir for many years. He also belonged to the Buckhorn Community Fire Co. Gene loved horses and in his younger years was an avid motorcycle enthusiast.

Gene proudly served his country by serving in the U. S. Army during the Korean War.

Surviving are his wife, the former Ruth E. Bower, with whom he observed his 59th wedding anniversary on March 4, 2019; a son, Scott B. Appleman, and his wife Arla, Hughesville; two daughters: Patricia A. Snyder and Lisa, wife of James Mattive, both of Bloomsburg; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; a sister Janet, wife of Max Ward and a brother Merle Snyder, both of Lewisburg.

Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11 a. m. in the Buckhorn United Methodist Church, 94 Schoolhouse Road, Bloomsburg, with his pastor, Rev. Audrey M. Brosious and Pastor Kenny Scoggins, a grandson-in-law and  pastor of the Community Baptist Church,  Lenoir City, Tenn. officiating. Interment will follow in Columbia Hill Cemetery.

Friends may call on Thursday from 6-8 p. m. at the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg or at the Church on Friday after 10 a. m.
