Gene A. Knorr, age 74, of 200-B Helcha Street, Bloomsburg (Espy) died at the Bloomsburg Care & Rehabilitation Center on Thursday, January 12, 2023, where he had resided for two weeks.

Born in Berwick on October 14, 1948, he was a son of the late Paul R. and Miriam “Mickie” J. (Roan) Knorr. He resided in the Bloomsburg area most of his life and was a graduate of Central Columbia High School in 1966. He received an associates degree from Brandywine Community College in Wilmington, Delaware.

Gene was employed by Guardian Warranty Co. in Dupont for 10 years and was the office manager when he retired in 2006.

He was a member of Bloomsburg Elks Lodge 436 and a member of the former Bloomsburg Moose Lodge for many years. He enjoyed playing golf and classic cars.

Gene served his country as a member of the U. S Army during the Vietnam War era from 1969 to 1972.

Surviving is his son, Paul R. Knorr and his wife Aimee Jo Starr Knorr of Sumter, South Carolina; a grandson, Alix Darwin Skywalker, Sumter, South Carolina; two brothers: Charles “Chuck” Knorr and his wife Elizabeth of Orangeville and Daniel D. Knorr and his wife Debra of Berwick; a sister, Deborah K., wife of Mark Rattray of Bloomsburg and several nieces and nephews.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be made in Fort Jackson National Cemetery, Columbia, South Carolina.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market Street, Bloomsburg.
