Franklin  D. Welliver, age 91, 165 Fowlersville Road, Bloomsburg, died at 3:06 p. m. Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, where he was a patient for four days.

Born on September 19, 1926 in Bloomsburg, he was a son of the late James and Ada (Fairman) Welliver. He was a 1944 graduate of the former Scott Township High School and resided in North Centre Township for 40 years.

Franklin was a farmer all of his life. He enjoyed hunting, walking and was an avid reader. He was a faithful member of St. Luke Lutheran Church.

He served with the U. S. Army during World War II.

Franklin  was preceded in death by his wife of over 50 years, the former Ruth A. McBride, on December 17, 2014; by two grandchildren: Tammi Marie Myers and Michael Stuart Welliver; two brothers: Harold Welliver and Carl Welliver; and two sisters: Geraldine Naus and Ruth Evans.

Surviving are three children: Connie E., wife of Thomas Myers, Bloomsburg; Dale F. Welliver, and his wife Laura, with whom he resided; Gerald A. Welliver, and his wife Sandra L., Piscataway, N.J.; five grandchildren and four great grandchildren.  He was the last of his immediate family and is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Friday at 2 p. m. in St. Luke Lutheran Church, 9 St. Luke Way, Bloomsburg, with his pastor, Rev. Luther J. Martell officiating. Interment will be in Elan Memorial Park, Lime Ridge, with military honors by the combined veterans group. Friends may call at the church from 1-2 p. m.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market Street, Bloomsburg.
