Florence E. DePoe

Florence E. (Knecht) DePoe, age 95, 423 Dotyville Road, Benton, died at 5:17 p. m. Sunday, February 12, 2017 at the Bonham Nursing Center, Stillwater, where she was a patient for six days.

Born in Williamsport on September 5, 1921, she was a daughter of the late Maurice E. and Alice (Fritz) Knecht. She resided in Benton Township since 1950.

Florence was a 1939 graduate of Montoursville High School and also graduated from the former Williamsport Hospital School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse.

A member of the Benton Christian Church, she also attended the Raven Creek Presbyterian Church where she served as secretary and treasurer for many years. Earlier in her life, she was a 4-H leader and participated in the Benton Tops club. She also served on the Benton Township election board for many years.

Florence loved to sing and participated in the Bloomsburg Community Bicentennial Chorus for several years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred M. DePoe on January 25, 2014;  by a brother, Robert Knecht; and by two sisters: Barbara Hilley and Nancy Clark,

Florence is survived by a daughter, Janet L., wife of John David Campbell, Elverson; Fred M. DePoe, Jr., and his wife Nancy Jo R., Benton; David W. DePoe, and his wife Ann, Benton; seven grandchildren;  9 great-grandchildren;  and a sister, Doris Doty, Bloomsburg.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10:30 a. m. in the Raven Creek Presbyterian Church, 993 Upper Raven Creek Road, Benton, with Dr. David Mansfield, her pastor at the Benton Christian Church officiating. Interment in Raven Creek Cemetery. Friends may call at the Church from 9:30 to 10:30 a. m.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Benton.
