Emily J. (Randall) Hontz

Emily J. (Randall) Hontz, age 86, of 50 Wandell Rd., Sweet Valley, passed away at 5:28 p.m. on Wednesday, December 8, 2021 at the Birchwood Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center in Nanticoke.

Born on May 9, 1935 in Noxen, Wyoming County, she was the daughter of the late Steven and Helen C. (Johnson) Randall. She resided in the rural Sweet Valley/Bethel Hill area for many years.

Emily had many jobs in her life, including driving a school bus (van), and weaving carpet to sell. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and sewing. She and her sisters sang in area churches as the Randall Sisters and she and her husband also played the guitar.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Evan Hontz, on July 1, 1991; a grandson, Jordan M. Goss, on October 20, 2021, and three sisters: Stephanne, Coretta, and Shirley.

Surviving are four children: Wanda E., wife of Floyd L. Goss, Jr., with whom she resided, Stanley E. Hontz, Eva Jane, wife of Gary Shaw, Jr., all of Sweet Valley, and Martin Hontz, and his wife Liz, of Huntington Mills; nine grandchildren: Jason Goss, and his wife Amanda, Joshua Goss, Daniel Hontz, Gary Shaw III, Tiffani, wife of Jon Pulver, Andrea, wife of Erich Thomas, Matthew Hontz, and his wife Nichole, Amanda, wife of Robert Shaffer, and Alicia Heness; ten great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Living Word Baptist Church, Route 118, Sweet Valley, with Pastor Raymond Purdy, officiating. Interment in Maple Grove Cemetery, Sweet Valley. Viewing at the church on Tuesday from 1-2 p.m.
