Elizabeth "Betty Jean" Newbury

Elizabeth "Betty Jean" Newbury, age 84, 41 Woodbine Lane, Danville, died at 1:45 p.m. on Saturday, July 18, 2009 at Grandview Health Homes, Danville, where she had been a resident since 2001.

Born on October 25, 1924, she was a daughter of the late John and Ethel (Morrison) Newbury. She had resided in Danville all her life.

Betty Jean was a 1942 graduate of Danville High School.

She worked for many years as a secretary and administrative assistant to Comptroller at Follmer Trucking Co., Hummels Wharf and North Penn Transfer, Hummels Wharf and also as a secretary for the Justice Office at the Montour County Courthouse from 1981 until her retirement.

Betty Jean was a lifetime member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Danville.

Preceding her in death is a brother, Elmer "Huck" Newbury.

Memorial services will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the Roat-Kriner Funeral Home, 1715 Bloom Road, Danville, with Elder Warren R. Flick, Sr. officiating. Interment in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Danville. Friends may call between 10-11 a.m. Tuesday.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association of Northeastern Pennsylvania, 63 North Franklin Street, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18701.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Roat-Kriner Funeral Home, Danville.
