Elinora (Ellie) Strausser

Elinora (Ellie) Strausser, of Danville, passed away peacefully, leaving this world wrapped in the love she so generously gave throughout her life. Born in her living room in Riverside, on December 31, 1933, to Harry I. Lynn, Sr and Nora (Burkland). On January 7, 2026, she entered the Holy Kingdom from her own living room, where care had been provided by her children and her special caregiver, Jenine Rogers Ernest. She recently celebrated her 92nd birthday surrounded by those she loved.

She was one of four children and is survived by her sister Darlis J. Carl of Riverside.

On March 14, 1953, she married the love of her life, Wayne M. Strausser who preceded her in death on August 17, 2004, ending a bond of 51 years. Together they were the proud parents of 6 children, 17 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren (and one on the way) and 1 great-great grandchild.

She graduated from Danville High School in 1951. Throughout her years she held many different positions in the area, retiring from PPL in 1995. Her favorite role by far was being a wife, mother, and grandmother.

She was an avid reader, especially the Bible, which she read every day. She was a lifetime member of St. Peter’s United Methodist Church in Riverside and sat in the same pew her entire life. She also enjoyed painting ceramics, traveling with her husband visiting almost all 50 states, and spending time with her family as is evident in the hundreds of hours of video tapes we found upon her death.

Ellie was the heart of her family. She loved deeply, listened patiently, and showed her care in countless quiet ways. Her presence brought comfort and steadiness, and those who knew her felt safe, supported, and genuinely loved. She had a gentle strength and a grace that never sought attention.

She will be remembered for her big hugs, her big Sunday meals for the entire family, her ability to make holidays special, her pulling ears and singing to all her children and grandchildren on their birthdays, and for the love she shared with everyone. If you knew her, you loved her.

She leaves behind a family who will forever carry her love with them and honor her life by remembering the lessons she taught simply by the way she lived. Survivors include her children Michael (Pam), Ithaca NY, Steven (Marie), Jane Strausser Foust (Kerry DeLong), Randall, Kenneth and Trish Ruth (George) all of Danville. Also surviving are grandchildren Heather Boyd (Bob), Janelle Foust, Rashelle Koser (Ryan Henderson), Kyle Ale (Sara), Ashley Strausser (Scott Patrick), Andrew Foust, Erika Newbaker (S. Drew), Katie Ale, Katie Read (Paul), Hailee Krachala (Bryan), Tyde Strausser, Javier Strausser, Max Quinter (Tawni), Dylan Strausser (Natalie Rothermel), Tori Strausser and Eli Strausser. Great-grandchildren include Liam Boyd (Kat), Norah Foust, Ava Koser, Ben Koser, Mason Boyd, Hazely Patrick, Everly Ale, Willow Ale, Emma Haggerty, Peyton Krachula, Ben Read, Sam Read and baby girl Newbaker on the way, as well as one great, great granddaughter, Luna Sisler. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers Harry Lynn, Jr. and Richard “Dick” Lynn, grandson Brandon K. Strausser, and great-granddaughter Lannah Foust as well as many friends and relatives.

Though she is deeply missed, Elinora’s spirit remains present in shared stories, familiar routines, and the love that continues to connect her family.

Services will be held at St. Peter’s United Methodist Church on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at 11:00 AM. The family will receive visitors from 9:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m..

Flowers will be provided. Contributions in her name can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 2595 Interstate Dr., Suite 100, Harrisburg, PA 17110, or to your favorite charity or simply do a kind act for another.

We would like to thank Jenine Rogers Ernest, Elinora’s caregiver who became an extended family member, as well as Geisinger Hospice who provided compassionate care during her final days.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Roat-Kriner Funeral Home, 1133 Bloom Rd., Danville.
