Elaine L. (Ferko) Superdock

Elaine L. (Ferko) Superdock, age 86, of Manheim, and formerly of Bloomsburg, passed away on Tuesday, January 18, 2022.

Born on May 24, 1935 in Eckley (Foster Twp., Luzerne Co.), a miners’ village, she was the daughter of Peter A. and Helen D. (Dubish) Ferko.

Elaine was a 1953 graduate of the former Foster Twp. High School, where she met the love of her life, David A. Superdock. She went on to earn her B.S. in Education from Pennsylvania State University in 1957, while her future husband, David, served in the U.S. military. Elaine enjoyed her days in Eckley with her two sisters as a care-free girl and young woman. She loved to share stories of her fond childhood memories with both friends and family. After their marriage in1958, the Superdocks moved to Bloomsburg, where they lived for for 60 years.

She was a loving and proud mother to four children, grandmother to eight grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. Family was very important to her and she looked forward to speaking and spending time with her family whenever she could. Birthdays and holidays were her favorite times throughout the year. She always loved to remember and celebrate by sending small gifts and cards.

Elaine was very content and valued the simple things in life. She loved taking trips with her family, including trips to the beach where she faithfully planned and prepared all of the meals ahead of the time. She loved to read, complete word searches, do puzzles, garden and shop. But above all else, she loved her family, she loved her friends, and she loved her pets. Elaine's frequent, thoughtful acts of kindness will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Janet Kislan of Harley, PA.

Surviving is her husband, David A. Superdock, Ph.D., with whom she celebrated their 63rdanniversary on June 14, 2021; four children: Linda M., wife of Johnnie Netrow, of Tomball, TX, Dr. David T. Superdock, MD, and his wife Beth, of Newmanstown, PA, Dr. Keith R. Superdock, MD, and his wife Jennifer, of Piedmont, SC, Tracy L. Gale, of Wayne, PA; 8 grandchildren; 1 great-granddaughter; and a sister, Patricia Ferko, of West Hazleton.
