Eileen M. (Welsh) Drummond

Eileen M. (Welsh) Drummond, age 72, Bloomsburg, left this earth peacefully and entered heaven on Saturday, June 11, 2022 at Grandview Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Danville, after a long battle of chronic illnesses.

Born at the Bloomsburg Hospital on August 30, 1949, she was the daughter of the late Dale H. and Helen E. (Beagle) Welsh.

She was a 1967 graduate of Bloomsburg High School and immediately after graduation she trained in Washington, D. C. as a medical technician.  She enlisted in the United States Air Force where she proudly served from 1968 to 1975, earning the rank of Staff Sergeant while serving in Korat, Thailand. On her return to the United States she lived in Idaho, Wyoming and California, before returning to the Bloomsburg area in 1979. In 1981 she became a member of the Bloomsburg Volunteer Ambulance Association where she became an EMT and EMT skills instructor.

Eileen found her greatest joy helping people train their dogs for the past 40 years. She was a TDI/CGC evaluator and spent most of her time doing therapy work and read programs with several of her beloved dogs, her most recent being Michka.

Eileen belonged to several organizations including the Catawissa Lions Club, Bloomsburg Chapter 279, Order of Eastern Star, Therapy Dog International, Catawissa VFW Post 8306, and several fire companies. She served as a 4-H leader for the Unsere Hunde Dog Club in Columbia County

She was a lifelong member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Bloomsburg, as well as a  more recent member of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Catawissa, where she felt very welcomed, making new friends and singing in the choir.

Eileen is survived by her daughter, Elena, wife of Justin Caspersen, Berwick; a granddaughter, Marissa Caspersen, Berwick; a brother, Scott A. Welsh, and his wife Glenys, Bloomsburg and a niece, Druann, wife of Richard McGowan, York.
