Doyle O. Bird

Doyle O. Boone, age 83, of Boone Road, Bloomsburg, passed away on Friday, July 10, 2026 at the Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.

Born on December 15, 1942 in Bloomsburg, he was the son of the late Oren S. and Elva M. (Haines) Bird. A 1960 graduate of Bloomsburg High School, he was a lifetime resident of the Bloomsburg area.

Doyle was a contractor hauler for the former Sears Roebuck & Co. in Bloomsburg, retiring 2008.

He was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church. He was also a member of the Sons of American Legion Post 273.

Doyle enjoyed golf, bowling, and going to the beach. He was an avid Eagles football fan. He especially loved decorating his house for Christmas.

He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Stacey Bird.

Surviving is his wife, the former Linda A. Rhodes, with whom he celebrated their 41st wedding anniversary on May 10, 2026; daughter, Susan, wife of Bryan LeVan, Bloomsburg; stepson, Daniel Hendricks, and his wife Shelly J., of Bloomsburg; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a brother, Dennis L. Bird, and his wife Theresa, of Bloomsburg.

Graveside services will be held on Friday July 17, 2026 at 11 a.m. in Elan Memorial Park, 5595 Old Berwick Rd., Bloomsburg, with her pastor, Rev. Lisa Barnes, officiating.
