Dorothy L. "Dot" Funk

Dorothy L. “Dot” Funk, age 86, 100 Westminster Dr., Bloomsburg, died unexpectedly at her home early Friday, January 15, 2016. She was in failing health for the past year.

Born in Coal Township, Northumberland County, on August 30, 1929, she was the only daughter of the late Leroy and Eva (Moore) Zeigler. She was a 1947 graduate of Shamokin High School.

Dot resided in  Shamokin prior to moving to  Bloomsburg , returning to Shamokin in 1994., where she resided until 2011, when she returned to Bloomsburg.

She was employed by the Bloomsburg Hospital for 17 years, as a discharge/admission clerk, retiring in 1993.

Dot was a longtime member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, Shamokin.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Beam Funk; a son, William A. Funk on June 11, 2000; and a brother, William A. Zeigler.

Dot was the last of her immediate family.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, January 24, 2016, at 3:00 p.m. in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg, with her pastor, Rev. David M. Byerly , officiating. Interment in Northumberland Memorial Park, Stonington on Monday at 10 a.m.  Viewing at the funeral home on Sunday from 2-3 p. m.
