Donna Louise (Biddinger) Blue

Donna Louise (Biddinger) Blue, 72, of Shamokin, passed away peacefully on August 25, 2026, in the comfort of her home, surrounded by the family she loved so dearly.

Born December 5, 1953, in Shamokin, Donna was the daughter of Vaughn “Pete” I. Biddinger and Doris E. (Fegley) Biddinger, both also born in Shamokin.

On August 25, 1979, she married Timothy Earl Blue in Shamokin. Donna and Timothy made their home together in Danville, where they shared their lives and raised their family until his passing. The life and family they built together remained at the heart of Donna’s world throughout her life.

Donna attended Shamokin schools, graduating in 1972. Her caring nature led her to Geisinger Medical Center School of Nursing, where she studied from 1973 to 1975 and earned her nursing diploma. What followed was a career of more than three decades, defined by her dedication to caring for others.

She began her nursing career serving for five years as Nursing Supervisor at Grandview and Mt. Carmel Personal Care Homes. Donna then spent 30 years at Geisinger Medical Center, where she worked as a registered nurse and in nursing management. She was a compassionate and caring nurse, but she was also a fun-loving one. She shared her warmth and humor freely with her patients and coworkers, bringing not only her skill as a nurse, but also the kindness and personality that were so much a part of who she was.

Donna loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and her faith was central to her life. She was a member of Grace Chapel Church in Shamokin, met weekly with her Bible study group and loved Christian music. Her faith was deeply important to her and could be seen in the compassion she showed to others, the relationships she treasured and the way she lived her life.

There was rarely a shortage of laughter when Donna was around. She had a wonderful sense of humor that was contagious to those around her, and a particular talent for turning ordinary moments into something memorable.

Donna loved to sing and frequently made up little songs for her family and even her patients. And then there was the National Anthem. Those who knew her well knew that she might spontaneously break into it at just about any moment, for no particular reason at all. It was simply one of the many things that made Donna unmistakably Donna.

She brought that same enthusiasm to the many things she enjoyed. Donna loved crafts and interior design, enjoyed bowling and hunting, and was an avid golfer. She loved to travel, loved animals and especially loved country living. She also loved watching the jets fly over the house and always made a point to wave as they passed overhead. Her beloved dog, Sunny, held a special place in her heart and was part of the life she loved at home.

More than anything else, Donna loved her family and friends. Her family was the center of her world, and among her greatest joys was her grandson, Tyler, whom she cherished dearly and who knew her lovingly as “Nonna Donna.”

Donna was preceded in death by her beloved husband, her adoring parents, and her friend and sister-in-law, Bonnie Blue. She is survived by her son, Troy Blue and his wife, Karen; her daughter, Rochelle (Shelly) Blue and her wife, Selena; her daughter, Tammy Blue and her partner, Johnnie Legree; and her grandson, Tyler Blue and his wife, Emily. She also leaves behind her dearest friend and Aunt Sandy Thomas, many family members, dear friends, former patients and coworkers who were fortunate to share in her life and will carry her memory with them.

Throughout her life, Donna gave so much of herself to the family she loved, the friends she treasured, her faith, and the countless people she cared for during her years as a nurse. She had a gift for bringing warmth and joy into the lives of others, and the love she gave so freely will remain with those who knew her. Her life will be remembered in the countless moments, stories and memories she leaves behind. They are the little things that made a lifetime of memories and made Donna so deeply loved.

Funeral services will be held on Monday August 31, 2026 at 11 a.m. in Grace Chapel Church, 126 Airport Road, Shamokin, with her pastor, Josiah Ott, officiating. Interment will be made in Northumberland Memorial Park, Shamokin Township. A viewing will be held from 10-11 a.m. at the church.
