Donald J. Martz, Jr.

Donald J. Martz, Jr., age 69, of PPL Road, Danville, died at his home on Tuesday evening March 26, 2024 with his family by his side and under the care of Compassus Hospice.

Born on November 20, 1954 in Derry Twp., Montour Co., he was the son of Donald J., Sr. and Catherine (Pehowic) Martz. Donald was a lifelong resident of Montour County and a 1973 graduate of Danville High School.

For much of his life he was self-employed in the excavating and snow plowing business. He also was a farmer for most of his life.

He was a member of the Strawberry Ridge United Church of Christ and a life member of the Washingtonville Fire Company.

Donald enjoyed hunting and fishing. Earlier in his life he played softball. He also was a Little League coach for many years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Donovan Martz, on April 11, 2022.

Surviving is his loving wife, Donna Rorick Martz, with whom he celebrated his 41^st wedding anniversary on June 5, 2023; two sons, Donald J. Martz III, of Milton, and Kevin J. Martz, and his wife Alexandra, of Jerseytown; two grandchildren, Harper Martz and Jacob Martz; a great-grandson, Davian Martz; a sister, Linda, wife of Jim Bowers, of Lightstreet; and three brothers, David Martz, John Martz, and his wife Catherine, and Michael Martz, and his wife Charlotte, all of Washingtonville; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be on Monday at 11 a.m. in the Roat-Kriner Funeral Home, 1133 Bloom Rd., Danville, with Compassus Hospice Chaplain, Robert Barner, officiating. The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m.
