Donald E. Layos

Donald E. Layos, 79, of Tenth St., Bloomsburg passed away early Friday, October 10, 2025, at the Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.

Born in Bloomsburg on June 8, 1946, he was a son of the late John and Evelyn (Richendrfer) Layos. He was a lifelong resident of the Bloomsburg area and a 1964 graduate of Bloomsburg High School.

Donald was employed by Kawneer Manufacturing Co. for 47 years before retiring.

He was a member of the Shiloh Bible Church in Almedia where he served as an elder for many years. He will be remembered by friends and neighbors for always sitting on the front porch of his home and greeting them as they passed by.

Preceding him in death in addition to his parents was his wife of 54 years, the former Marie D. Dershem on June 14, 2019,  a brother Kenneth Layos and a sister Anna Mae Layos.

Surviving are two daughters: Meredith wife of Thomas Arnold of Mifflinville and Madeline wife of Kurt Schuster of Milton; two grandsons: Garrett Arnold and his fiancé Amber Kocher and Alex Arnold, both of Mifflinville and a number of nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2025, at 10 a. m. in Elan Memorial Park, 5595 Old Berwick Road, Bloomsburg with his pastor, Rev. Dr. Douglas H. Lyon officiating.
