Catawissa native, loving mother & grandmother
Dawn L. (Watkins) Fleming, age 88, formerly of Millville and Elysburg, passed away peacefully at Vintage Knolls Senior Living in Danville on Friday evening, Sept. 4, 2020 surrounded by her daughters.
Born on January 1, 1932 in Cleveland Township, Columbia County, a daughter of the late Bruce and Adda (Stewart) Watkins. She was a 1949 graduate of the former Locust Township High School
Dawn was employed at the former Emenee Shirt Factory in Catawissa for 28 years and also assisted her husband, Carl, with his building construction business and owning and managing rental properties.
She was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church (Esther Furnace). She was “Mom Mom” to her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A resilient individual, her faith in Jesus Christ and her family came first. She enjoyed walking, golfing and winter trips to Florida.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carl V. Fleming, on November 12, 1986, a sister Betty Yocum and her husband Donald, brother-in-law, Donald Fleming, sister-in-law, Joan Fleming and her devoted companion, Roy Sanders, who passed on February 28, 2012.
Dawn is survived by two daughters: Carla, wife of Alan Welch, Quakertown and Cheri, wife of Richard Lyons, Millville; a granddaughter, Emily, wife of Andy Bloom, Millville; a grandson, Wesley Lyons, and his wife Lauren; Bloomsburg; two great-grandsons: Will Lyons and Maddox Bloom; a sister, Beryl, wife of Lamar Richie, Elysburg; a brother-in-law, Gene Fleming, Chambersburg; a sister-in-law, Janice Fleming, Traverse City, Mich., her companions son, Mike Sanders of Danville and his sons, Kyle and Ryan Sanders along with many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to either the Millville Fire Company, P. O. Box 80, Millville, PA 17846 or the Elysburg Fire Company, 1 E. Mill Street, Elysburg, Pa 17824.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market Street, Bloomsburg.
