David F. Williams, age 72, of 45 N. Gates Ave., Kingston, died peacefully with family by his side on Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center in Wilkes-Barre. He resided in the Hampton House Skilled Nursing Facility in Wilkes-Barre for the past five months.
Born on January 29, 1949 in Kingston, he was the son of the late Frank J. and Esther M. (Broome) Williams. David was a 1967 GAR High School graduate in Wilkes-Barre and later graduated from Luzerne County Community College with an Associate’s Degree in Humanities. He was also a certified Paralegal. David was a lifelong resident of the Wilkes-Barre and Kingston area.
Prior to retirement, David worked as a patient advocate at Valley Crest Nursing Home in Wilkes-Barre. He previously worked in the Wilkes-Barre tax office.
David was an avid history buff. He enjoyed reading about the Civil War and World War I and II, and was also interested in politics. David enjoyed old western and war movies, playing baseball, ping-pong, and horse racing at Pocono Downs, and playing slot machines. He also loved dogs, especially Boxers.
David was preceded in death by his wife, Lori (Cherkes) Williams, in 2009, and a brother, John M. Williams, in 2019.
He is survived by two brothers: Thomas J. Williams, and his wife Mary, of Mascoutah, IL, and Mark D. Williams, and his wife Virginia, of Bloomsburg; two sisters: Mary C. Wilce, and her husband Donald, of Millville, and Carol Edwards, of Slidell, LA; and a sister-in-law, Lisa Williams, of McKinney, TX.
A private family service honoring David will be held in the future.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Dean W. Kriner Inc. Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg.
