David F. Riley

David F. Riley, age 82, of Boyd Station Road, Danville, died unexpectedly at his home on Saturday evening, June 10, 2023.

Born in Athens, Bradford County on September 13, 1940, he was a son of the late Lewis D. and Ann E. (Dietz) Riley. Most of his life he resided in the Danville area and was a 1959 graduate of Danville High School.

David was employed at the former Kennedy Van Saun, Corp. plant in Danville for 18 years until it closed. He was then employed by Geisinger Medical Center in Danville until retiring in 2002.

He was a lifelong member of Shiloh United Church of Christ, Danville.

David loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family. He did carpenter work, metal work, leather work and also worked as a farrier. He and his wife raised Boxer dogs for over 50 years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, the former Sheila A. Hendricks, on February 21, 2023; by two brothers, Robert Riley and Lewis Riley and a sister, Elizabeth Riley.

David is survived by five sons: David A. Riley and his wife Lisa, Steve Riley and his companion Sharon Reynolds, Scott Riley and his wife Anna, all of Danville, Tim Riley and his wife Teresa of Elysburg, Chris Riley and his wife Myriah of Danville; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and a brother James Riley and his wife Katie of Washington State.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11 a. m. in the Roat-Kriner Funeral Home, 1133 Bloom Road, Danville, with his pastor, Rev. Mary B. Schmotzer, officiating. Interment will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Danville. Viewing on Wednesday from 10-11 a.m.
