Darlis M. (Baumer) Wintersteen, age 92, of 50 Wintersteen Lane, Danville (Rush Township) died at her home early Wednesday morning, December 7, 2022 after an illness.

Born in Danville on April 12, 1930, a daughter of the late Ira and Mae (Albeck) Baumer. She was a lifelong resident of the Danville area and a 1948 graduate of Danville High School.

Darlis was last employed by Danville State Hospital as a Psychiatric Aide and had earlier been employed by the former Roselon Yarn, Inc., of Danville. For many years she and her husband sold fresh produce from the family farm at the Danville Farmers Market.

She was a member of St. Peter’s United Methodist Church, Riverside. Her hobbies were knitting, crocheting, needlepoint, doing crossword puzzles and assembling jigsaw puzzles. She was well known for the Christmas stockings which she knitted and sold.

She was preceded n death by her husband, Nevin E. Wintesteen, on April 11, 2004 and by three siblings: Ira Baumer, Joanne Randler and Betty Morgan.

Darlis is survived by five children: Vaughn Wintersteen and his wife Alice, Ira Wintersteen, Joan, wife of Thomas Fox, Gail, wife of Albert Henninger, Scott Wintersteen and his wife Claire, all of Danville; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchidlren; and five sisters: Mary Billhime, Lewisburg, Helen, wife of Hurley Moll, Lewisburg, Donna, wife of Carl Smith, Danville, Karen, wife of Joseph Zavaglia, New Jersey and Judy wife of Ed Brill, Harrisburg.

She is also survived by three sister-in-laws: Bebe Bolick, Milton, Janet Swisher, Bloomsburg and Sharon Reeder, Danville.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 10, 2022, at 12 noon in the Roat-Kriner Funeral Home, 1133 Bloom Road, Danville with her pastor, Pastor Greg Molter, officiating. Interment will follow in Elan Memorial Park, Lime Ridge.
