Carl G. Unger, Jr.

Carl G. Unger, Jr., age 76, of Shaffer Rd., Nescopeck, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes on Saturday April 4, 2026 at his home.

Born on August 2, 1949 in Berwick, he was the son of the late Carl G., Sr. and Irene (Moyer) Unger. A 1967 graduate of Central Columbia High School, he spent his lifetime in Columbia County.

Carl was a self-employed butcher for most of his life. He was last employed by John Gensemer Meats in Lightsteet.

He was a member of Shiloh Bible Church in Almedia.

Carl loved cars, especially his 1957 Chevy which he restored. An avid hunter and fisherman, he had a cabin in Potter County. He also enjoyed going for rides.

Carl was preceded in death by a brother, Carson Unger and sister, Candy Conyngham.

Surviving is his companion of 21 years, Brenda Zajac, of Nescopeck; two sons: Phillip G. Unger and Paul M. Unger, and his wife Bobbie, all of Nescopeck; four grandchildren: Colton Unger, Kylie Unger, Dalton Unger, and Aubrey Miller; two great-grandchildren, Tanner Unger and Ariella Unger; two sisters, Carla, wife of John Caprari, of Allentown ad Clea VanLiew, of Berwick; and three brothers, Carwin Unger, and his partner Dominic, of Conyngham, Chris Unger, and his wife Dee, of Nescopeck, and Craig Unger, and his wife Sherry, of Galeton, PA.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday April 9, 2026 at 11 a.m. in the Dean W. Kriner Inc. Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg, with Pastor Bob Lehman, associate pastor of Shiloh Bible Church, officiating. Interment will follow in Elan Memorial Park, Lime Ridge. A viewing will be held from 10-11 a.m.
