Carl J. Klein, age 86, 145 Liberty Valley Road, Danville, died at his home at 5:50 a. m. Monday, July 31, 2017, after a two year illness.

Born in Valley Township on December 26, 1930, he was a son of the late William G. and Mary Louise (Mainzer) Klein. He was a 1948 graduate of Danville High School.

Carl was a lifelong farmer and the Klein farm is on its third generation of Klein's. He also was employed by Penna. Power & Light Co., for 35 years, retiring in 1993. At the time of his retirement he was a right of way agent.

A member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Danville, he also belonged to these fire companies: Liberty Township, Continental, Friendship, Washington "Washies", and East End.

Carl also belonged to the Glen Iron West End Social Club, Danville American Legion Post 40, Danville VFW Post, Danville Moose, Union County Sportsman's Club and the Deep Hollow Hunting Club.

Surviving are his wife, the former Neva M. Bogart, with whom he celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary on October 4, 2016; five children: Ronald W. Klein, and his wife Sandy, Danville; Diane, wife of James Bowser, Pittsburgh; Janet, wife of Steve Moser, Danville; Carolyn, wife of James Dragans, Danville; Randall M. Klein, and his wife Joanna, Danville; 12 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter; a brother, William J. Klein, and his wife Elda; two sisters: Marie James and Bernice, wife of Jack Gross, all of Danville; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Private funeral services will be held in the Roat-Kriner Funeral Home, 1715 Bloom Road, Danville, with the Rev. Michael Laicha, former pastor of St. Joseph's Catholic Church officiating. Interment will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. There will be no public viewing.

The family requests that flowers not be sent, but that anyone caring to remember Carl, do so with a contribution to either the Geisinger Home Health & Hospice, 410 Glenn Ave., Bloomsburg or the PA Special Olympics For Columbia/Montour Counties, P. O. Box 654, Bloomsburg, PA 17815.
