Carl Eugene Hower

Carl Eugene Hower, 87 of Riverside died peacefully on Thursday afternoon, October 30, 2025 and entered into the arms of his Savior at the Mountain View Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Coal Township, Northumberland County.

Born on June 3, 1938 in Riverside, the youngest of five children born to the late Roy and Ida Mae (Roup) Hower. He was a 1956 graduate of Danville High School.

Carl was a farmer his entire life, farming the fields of Blue Hill until he could no longer see well enough to continue. He enjoyed hunting and fishing as well as watching birds and wildlife.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, the former Carol Welch, sisters Jenny and Velma; brothers Marvin and Blaine; and nieces Ruth Ellen and Jeanne Rakow.

Carl is survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and friends including his caregivers, his girl friend Sandra Gross and son to be step son, Spencer Younger.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 7, 2025 at 11 a.m. in the Roat-Kriner Funeral Home, 1133 Bloom Road, Danville with Rev. William R. Conrad, retired pastor of the Riverside Assembly of God Church officiating. Viewing will be from 10-11 a. m.
