Bridget “Della” Sofianek

Bridget “Della” Sofianek, age 86, of Millville, passed away on October 10, 2025 at her home. She was born in County Mayo, Ireland on December 5, 1938, daughter of the late Thomas McEvaddy and Julia (Howley) McEvaddy.

She emigrated to New York in 1958, joining her sisters Nancy and Mary. She worked as an office assistant for Pepsi Cola and in 1960 joined TWA as a flight attendant. From 1965 to 1978 she was a full time mother and homemaker. She later built a career as a real estate agent and part owner of Coldwell Banker Wandell/ Sofianek Realty in Danville, serving as a trusted advisor to many until her retirement in 2001.

Over the years Della volunteered her time and talent for organizations including 4H, Girl Scouts, Millville Pool Association, American Heart Association, Montour County Soroptimists, and the Chamber of Commerce. Her most important and joyous times were raising and enjoying her children and spending time with her grandchildren. She will be remembered for her Irish wit, pragmatic wisdom, and peppering conversations with lines from poetry. She regularly reminded those she loved: “Whatever you are, be a good one.”

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by brothers John and Tom, and sisters Mary, Ethna and her twin sister, Margaret. She is survived by a son, Joe Sofianek (Janice) of Montana, daughters Maria Valles (Todd) of Pennsylvania, and Erica Siemers (Art) of Wisconsin, along with five grandchildren, Erin, Anna, Julia, Connor and Hunter. She is also survived by sisters Nancy and Sheila.

At her request, there will be no public viewing or funeral services. Her family plans a private celebration of her life.
