Brenda (Whitacre) O'Rourke

Brenda (Whitacre) O’Rourke, age 65, of Prince George St., Bloomsburg, passed away on Wednesday, July 15, 2026 at the Grandview Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Danville.

Born on May 18, 1961 in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of Mavourneen “Bennie” (Bender) Whitacre, of Berwick and the late William Whitacre. She was a 1979 graduate of Poolesville High School in Poolesville, Maryland. Brenda also graduated with a B.S. from Penn State University. She resided in Bloomsburg since 2005.

Brenda was employed by Susquehanna Power Plant at Bell Bend as a Nuclear Engineer.

She was a member of St. Columba Catholic Church.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, George R. O’Rourke, with whom she celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary on January 6, 2026; daughter, Lindsay Eryn O’Rourke, of Bloomsburg; and a sister, Shelly, wife of Fernando Palacios, of Montgomery Village, Maryland.

A viewing will be held on Saturday July 18, 2026 from 2-4 p.m. in the Dean W. Kriner Inc. Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg. A prayer service will be held at 3 p.m. by Rev. Aaron Lynch, of St. Columba Catholic Church.
