Bess M. Kline

Bess M. (Blass) Kline, age 77, of Turner High View Road, Bloomsburg, died at the home of her son Marvin in Lightstreet at 5:03 p. m. Sunday, October 18, 2020 after an illness.

Born in Pine Township, Columbia County on December 5, 1942, she was a daughter of the late John Carl and Sarah Louise (Kreppeneck) Blass.

 A lifelong resident of Columbia County, she graduated from Millville High School in 1960. She went on to graduate from the Drexel Institute of Technology (now Drexel University) in Philadelphia in 1964. She served an internship in the medical laboratory of Presbyterian Hospital in Philadelphia from 1963-64.

Bess was employed as a microbiologist at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, from 1964 to 1997.

She was a member of the Lightstreet United Methodist Church and of the Fishing Creek Herb Guild. She was an avid reader and her hobby was gardening and growing flowers.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin E. Kline, Jr., on January 11, 2004 and by a son, James John Kline, on May 5, 2019.

Bess is survived by a son, Marvin E. Kline, III and his wife Pattie S., of Lightstreet; three grandchildren: Caitlinn, wife of Ryan Kissinger, Bloomsburg, Jade Kline, Lightstreet, Jillian, wife of Robert Orth, Camp Hill; four great-grandchildren: Olivia Kissinger, Avery Orth, Paxton Orth, and Kinslee Orth; four brothers: David Blass, and his wife Jean, Millville, Thomas Blass, and his wife Gail, Milton, Steve Blass, Oregon, and Bill Blass, and his wife Gloria, Danville. There are also several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Friday at 10:30 a. m. in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market Street, Bloomsburg, with her pastor, Rev. Dr. Jennifer Parks-Snyder officiating. Interment will follow in Salem Cemetery, Unityville. Friends may call at the funeral home from 9:30 to 10:30 a. m.
