Bertha M. (Knight) “Bert” Williams, age 88, formerly of Pepper Hills, Danville, died at 3:15 p.m., Thursday, November 18, 2021 at Grandview Nursing and Rehabilitation in Danville, where she had been a patient since March 16, 2018.
Born in Danville on September 17, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Robert E. and Arella M. (Fisher) Knight. She was a 1951 graduate of Danville High School and lived in Danville most of her life.
Bert was employed at Danville State Hospital as a psychiatric aide for 25 years, retiring in 1992.
She was a lifelong member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church at Grovania. She also had served for many years as a Judge of Elections in Cooper Twp., Montour County.
Mom/Mom Mom was an avid reader and liked to fish, hunt, and play cards. She was an accomplished knitter and crocheter and won many ribbons at the Bloomsburg Fair. Bert was a member of the Danville Area Community Center where she would participate in water aerobics, even when it was difficult to walk.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Abram N. Williams, on June 7, 2003; a daughter-in-law, Teresa Pepper Williams, wife of Douglas; and a great-great granddaughter: Marleigh.
Surviving are six children: Abram N. Williams, Jr., of Danville, Joanne Williams, of Danville, Douglas E. Williams, of Canton, Ga, Daniel J. Williams, of Slatington, Dennis Dale Williams, of Orangeville, Gregory A. Williams, and his wife Janet, of Danville; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 29, 2021 at 11 a.m. in the Roat-Kriner Funeral Home, 1133 Bloom Rd., Danville, with her pastor, Rev. Gretchen M. Johanson, officiating. Interment will follow in St. Peter’s “Grovania” Cemetery. Viewing will be held on Sunday, November 28, 2021 from 5-7 p.m.
