Beatrice E. Lanyl

Beatrice E. (Reed) Lanyi, age 94, 11 West Creek Road, Benton, died at 8:40 a. m. Saturday at The Gardens At Orangeville, where she was a guest since July 2016.

She was born on August 8, 1922 at Patterson Grove Camp Meeting, Fairmount Township, Luzerne County, a daughter of the late Francis D. and Golda A. (Boston) Reed.  Her early years were spent in Benton and she resided in Newark, New Jersey for a number of years before returning to Benton in 1975. She was a 1940 graduate of Benton High School.

Bea was a beautician and operated her own shop in Benton from 1975 to 2015.

She was a lifelong member of the Benton Christian Church.

Bea was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Marie (Reed) McManus; a great niece Jessica Hittle; and her longtime companion Delbert Bogard.

She will be  missed by her nieces and nephews, especially Mary Frances, wife of Larry  A. Robbins, Benton, and also by a number of great nieces and nephews.

Bea was intered following a brief family service in the Benton Cemetery with her pastor, Rev. Dr. David Mansfield officiating.

Arrangements were entrusted to the care of the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Benton.
