Anthony "Joe" J. Hess

Anthony “Joe” J. Hess, age 73, of Danville and formerly Millville, passed away on Thursday, December 4, 2025 at Emmanuel Center for Nursing in Danville, with his wife by his side.

Born on December 23, 1951 in Berwick, he was the son of the late Max L. and Shirley O. (Lunger) Hess. Joe attended Millville School District and spent most of his life there until he and his wife moved to Danville four years ago.

Joe was a welder by trade and worked for Deluxe Industries in Berwick for many years. In recent years, he was employed by Geisinger Medical Center as a bus driver. Prior to that he worked as a mechanic at Tour World in Danville.

Joe liked to hunt and enjoyed watching Nascar.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, AJ Hess, on July 1, 2020.

Surviving is his wife, the former Gail A. Price with whom he celebrated their 51st anniversary on June 1, 2025; four sons: Shawn Hess and his wife Alicia of Millville, Shane Hess and his wife Carrie of Millville, Dwayne Hess and his wife Bekky of Mt. Carmel, and Jerry Hess of Millville; 16 Grandchildren: Kodi, Brett and his wife Emma, Hunter and his wife Danny and Rayna, Sierra and her fiancé Lou Briggs, Tristian and his wife Bailey, and Andrew, Mya, Kendra, Michael, Hannah, Alexander, Kiera, and David, and Matt and Dillon Hess; 9 great-grandchildren: Lily, Emma, Maverick, Aria, Kayson, Amelia, Ricky, Arizona and Daymian; and a sister, Maryalice Green and her husband Roger of Benton.

Services are private.
