Adam Michael Gritzer

Adam Michael Gritzer, age 30, Danville, lost his long battle to addiction on August 30, 2017 at his home.

Born at the Lewisburg Hospital on June 30, 1987, he was the son of George A. Gritzer, and Beth A. (Wirick) Gritzer.

Adam was a 2006 graduate of Lewisburg Area High School. He enjoyed non-traditional sports while in middle and high school, including roller blading, snowboarding, lacrosse, ice hockey and 4-wheeling.

He loved animals and there wasn’t an animal that didn’t love Adam. Adam especially loved golf and all Pittsburgh sports teams.

Surviving are his father, George A. Gritzer, and his partner Amy Ward, Lewisburg; his mother, Beth A. Gritzer, and her partner Rick Gearhart, Danville; his brother, Andrew G. Gritzer, wife Kaleena and their son, Luca, Lewisburg; maternal grandparents, Leroy and Clara Wirick, Orange City, Florida; paternal grandmother, Margaret Gritzer, Latrobe; numerous uncles, aunts and cousins who always loved getting together for the entertainment Adam provided.

A celebration of Adam’s life will be held on Friday, September 8, from 6-8 p.m. at the Lewisburg Hotel, Second and Market Streets, Lewisburg.

Arrangements were entrusted to the care of the Roat-Kriner Funeral Home, 1133 Bloom Road, Danville.

Adam was one of my best friends - not to mention he was also my prom date, wearing a very dapper all-white tuxedo. From the moment I began school in Lewisburg, we became fast friends. He was easy to get along with that way - an incredibly genuine friend, humbly self-depreciating, generous in laughter, and an uncommonly hilarious sense of humor.... especially when the Steelers or Penguins won. He was always up to something, golf, rollerblading, hockey, etc. Adam never failed to make me smile. Ever. He was the first person on my doorstep when my Father fell ill. And always remembered to stay in touch even though we lived thousands of miles apart. Our last conversation was as if no time had passed in our friendship and like we saw each other yesterday. He sounded as happy and hilarious as ever. You'll always be loved and remembered so dearly. ~ Mallory

Beth,
I am so sorry to read this. My heart is heavy for you, your family, and your loss. I can only imagine the pain you have. Know that I am here for you... email me if you wish and I will send my phone number... even if you just need to scream out loud. Also know that your precious son is now free from his addiction and in the arms of the angels. Prayers coming your way.
