Abram C. Detwiler, Jr.

Abram C. "Fred" Detwiler, Jr., age 79, 7 West Park Avenue, Myerstown, died at 1:25 a.m. on Monday, June 22, 2009 at E.C.C. Retirement Village - Albright Campus, Myerstown, where he had been a patient for two months. He had been a guest at Stone Ridge Village, Myerstown since February 2000.

Born in Norristown on August 14, 1929, he was a son of the late Abram C., Sr. and Helene M. (Savage) Detwiler. He resided in Camp Hill from July 1970 to February 2000 and formerly in Williamsport for 30 years.

Fred was 1947 graduate of South Williamsport High School. He attended Lycoming College, Williamsport, and graduated from Bucknell University, Lewisburg in 1953.

He was employed for 26 years as a Rehabilitation Counselor with the Penna. Department of Labor and Industry, retiring in April 1991.

Fred's memberships include the Messiah Lutheran Church, South Williamsport, and the Antique Automobile Club of America.

He is survived by several cousins.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 12:00 p.m. in the Roat-Kriner Funeral Home, 1715 Bloom Rd., Danville, with Randy C. Leitzel, pastor of the Zion United Methodist Church, Myerstown, officiating. Interment in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Danville. Friends may call on Thursday from 11 a.m.-12 p.m.
