David L. Brown, age 68, 131 Main Street, Catawissa, died at 1:10 a. m. Wednesday, January 9, 2013, at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, where he was a patient for 13 days.

Born in Bloomsburg on June 9, 1944, he was a son of the late Harry H. and Cora (Gower) Brown. He resided in Catawissa for the past two and one half years and prior to that in South Carolina for 20 years. His early life was spent in the Bloomsburg area.

He was last employed by the Frigidaire Corp. in South Carolina and earlier by Argo, Inc. in both Berwick and South Carolina; Data Com, Bloomsburg and Kennedy Van Saun Corp., Danville.

David had a great sense of humor and enjoyed family functions and activities. His hobbies were fishing, hunting, playing cards and visiting casinos and his dog was Buster, a Chihuahua. He was a social member of the Catawissa American Legion Post.

He was preceded in death by four brothers: John Brown, Wilbur Brown, Howard Brown, Paul Brown; and by four sisters: Mary Winn, Violet Auchter, Ruth Featherman and Charlotte Welliver.

Surviving are seven children: ,David L. Brown, Jr., and his wife Samantha, Bloomsburg; Judy, wife of Tom Snyder, Mountain Top; Virginia, wife of James Cheatwood, Anderson, S.C.; Dennis Brown, and his wife Kelly, Riverside; Diane, wife of Paul Thomas, II, Catawissa; Kathy, wife of Nick Hansel, Dover; Mary, wife of Gerald Bredbenmner, Millville; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Betty J., wife of Harry W. Hartman, Bloomsburg; and three brothers: Stanley Brown, and his wife Ellen, Phoenixville; Fred Brown, Danville; and Kenneth Brown, and his wife Joanne, Bloomsburg, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11 a. m. in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg, with the Rev. Allen F. Acor, pastor of the Mooresburg-Hendrickson United Methodist Churches officiating. Interment in Rose Lawn Cemetery, Berwick. Friends may call on Friday from 10-11 a. m.
