Ruth L. (Garrow) Weller, age 102, of Boca Raton, Florida died unexpectedly at her home at 12:15 a. m. Tuesday, January 1, 2019.
Born in Danville on November 13, 1916, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Ethel (Bennett) Garrow. Her early life was spent in Danville and she was a 1934 graduate of Danville High School.
Ruth resided in Florida for 23 years and previously lived in Bloomsburg for three years and prior to that resided in many places including, California.
She was an accomplished pianist and served as an accompanist for many singers, including Louise Mitrani of Bloomsburg who had a program on a Scranton radio station. She also had her own program on a Boyertown, PA station at one time.
Ruth also served as a pianist in churches her husband served and in recent years she played at a ministry of her church, Calvary Chapel, to a local nursing home in Boca Raton. She was an inspiration to friends and fellow church members. She was keen about current events and an avid reader, especially of the Bible.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Frank H. Weller, on November 27, 1997; by two sisters, Dolly Krum and Beatrice Umstead; and a brother, John Franklin Garrow.
Surviving are two daughters: Carole L. Hafer, Prescott, Ariz. and Christine Anne Lyons, with whom she resided in Boca Raton; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 11, 2019 at 2 p. m. in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg. Private interment will be in New Rosemont Cemetery, Espy. Viewing will be from 1-2 p. m.
