Richard G. Porter, age 67. 377 Fowlersville Road, Bloomsburg, died at his home at 1:50 p. m. Saturday, May 26, 2018 after an illness of three months.
Born in Hazleton on July 2, 1950, he was a son of the late Paul and Margaret (Buchman) Porter. He was a 1968 graduate of Weatherly High School, where he resided until moving to North Centre Township in 1986.
Dick was employed by the Bemis Manufacturing, Inc., Hazleton, for 40 years as an extrusion machine operator.
He was a member of the Glad Tidings Assemblies of God Church, Bloomsburg. An active member of the Susquehanna Valley Beagle Club, where he assisted in running field trials. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman and especially enjoyed attending his sons' and grandchildren’s baseball games.
Dick is survived by his wife, the former Connie L. Steward, with whom he celebrated their 33rd wedding anniversary on October 6, 2017; six children: Heather J., wife of Jason Weikel, Zions Grove; Tara A. Porter, Birdsboro; Jacqueline L., wife of Mark Gorski, Drums; Richard P. Porter, and his wife Nicole, Berwick; Edward P. Porter, and his wife Samantha, Mifflinville; Kelly, wife of Timothy Weaver, Bloomsburg; ten grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Ruth Kohl, Bloomsburg.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11 a. m. in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market Street, Bloomsburg, with Pastor Richard DiLena, lead pastor of the New Covenant Church, Berwick, officiating. Interment will follow in Light street “Highland” Cemetery. Viewing on Tuesday from 6-8 p. m.
