William R. "Bill" Crawford, age 65, 911 Papermill Road, Bloomsburg, died at his home at 7 a. m. Sunday, March 26, 2017. He was in failing health for 12 years.
Born in Bloomsburg on July 22, 1951, he was a son of the late Joseph D., Sr. and Mary A. (Yohey) Crawford. He was a 1969 graduate of Central Columbia High School.
Bill owned "Bill Crawford Auto Sales" on Route 11 for 32 years, until retiring due to health issues in 2015.
He was a member of Bloomsburg Elks Lodge 436; Columbia Valley Moose Lodge 623; Oriental Lodge 460, F & AM, Orangeville; and Caldwell Consistory, Bloomsburg.
Bill loved cars and auto racing. He was a sprint car owner with wins at Port Royal and Selinsgrove Raceways, receiving national honors. His hobby was classic cars, buying, selling and owning them. He enjoyed watching UFC wrestling and car races.
Bill is survived by two sons: William R. "Billy" Crawford, II and his wife Keri, with whom he last resided and Mitchell R. Crawford, Seattle, Wash.; two granddaughters: Olivia P. Crawford and Emma G. Crawford; five siblings: Joseph D. Crawford, Jr., Rochelle, Va.; Robert J. Crawford, and his wife Darlene, Bloomsburg; Bonnie J. Crawford, Winter Springs, Fla.; Thomas L. Crawford, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; James E. Crawford, and his wife MaryEllen,. Bloomsburg; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 7 p. m. in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral HOme & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg, with the Rev. Dr. L. Lee Barnhardt, pastor of First English Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will be at the convenience of the family in New Rosemont Cemetery, Espy. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p. m. Thursday at the funeral home.
