Sharon P. Sylvester, age 56, Philadelphia, died at 11:59 p. m. Thursday, November 23, 2017 in Springfield, Delaware County where she was being cared for during her illness. Her death followed a lengthy illness.
Born in East Orange, New Jersey on April 5, 1961, she was the daughter of Eileen (Zatavasky) Sylvester, Albuquerque, New Mexico and Anthony "Tony" Sylvester, and his wife Vera Viditz-Ward, Bloomsburg. She resided in Philadelphia for the past 15 years.
Sharon was an honor graduate of Central Columbia High School in 1978, where she was a member of the National Honor Society. She then attended Bloomsburg University before graduating from Indiana University at Pennsylvania in 1982 with a B.A degree. She received her M.A. degree from Bloomsburg University and also an M.A. degree from the University of Virginia.
She last taught at Rowan University, Camden, New Jersey and earlier taught in high schools and did private tutoring. Early in her life she was a paralegal in New York City.
Sharon was a member of Old St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Philadelphia.
She was an avid reader and was an active member of the Philadelphia community helping others. She was a member of Recovery, Inc.
Sharon was preceded in death by her beloved Godson, Andrew J. Reisinger of Bloomsburg on August 12, 2017.
Surviving in addition to her parents, is her husband, William D. Cadden, with whom she observed her 9th wedding anniversary on August 9, 2017; two step daughters: Rachel Cadden, Oakland, California and Amy Cadden, and her husband Patrick Rooney, Vancouver Island, Canada; a brother, Anthony Sylvester, and his wife Molly Bleeker, Albuquerque, New Mexico and a nephew, Anthony Gianni Sylvester, Albuquerque, New Mexico.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, December 2, 2017, at 1 p. m. in St. Columba Catholic Church, 342 Iron Street, Bloomsburg by Monsignor Robert E. Lawrence. Private interment will take place in Calvary Hill Cemetery, Shenandoah.
Visitation will be on Saturday from 10:00 a. m. to 12 noon at the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market Street, Bloomsburg. There will be a Celebration of Sharon's life at 11:30 at which time friends and family will be able to share tributes and remembrances of her.
