Robert N. YoungJanuary 18, 1923 ~ April 19, 2017 (age 94)
Robert N. Young, age 94, formerly of Rupert, died at 7:26 p. m. Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at the home of his daughter, Cynthia S. Reinbold in Ellicott City, Md., where he had resided for the past 13 years.
Born in Bloomsburg on January 18, 1923, he was a son of the late Edward and Hazel (Krapp) Young. He resided in Rupert all of his life prior to moving to Maryland. He attended the Bloomsburg public schools.
Bob was employed by the former Kennedy Van Sauen, Corp., Danville for 25 years, retiring in 1985. Earlier he was employed at the former Magee Carpet Co. for a number of years.
He was a member of the former Rupert United Methodist Church, where he served as a Sunday school teacher, Sunday school superintendent, treasurer and assisted in many other ways.
\Bob was a founding member of the Montour Township Fire Co., Rupert, and served as fire chief for a number of years. He also belonged to Bloomsburg Elks Lodge 436; the Columbia County Historical & Genealogical Society; and had been a member for many years of the Washington Lodge 265, F & AM.
He was an outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing golf. An avid Penn State football fan, he also was a Philadelphia “Phillies” fan.
Bob served with the US Army during World War II.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, the former Betty J. Savage, on March 9, 1996; by a daughter, Linda K. Young on March 31, 1999 and by two brothers: Franklin Young and Guy Krapp.
Bob is survived by a daughter, Cynthia S., wife of Guy R. Reinbold, with whom he resided in Ellicott City, Md.; two granddaughters: Lindsay E. Reinbold, Ellicott City, Md. and Kaitlin, wife of Brendan Lamanna, Yardley; a great-granddaughter, Emma Lamanna. and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11 a. m. in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg, with Rev. Susan O. Rogutski, pastor of First United Methodist Church, Catawissa officiating. Interment in Elan Memorial Park, Lime Ridge, with military honors by the combined VFW group.
Viewing on Sunday from 3-5 p. m. at the funeral home and on Monday from 10-11 a. m.
